thoughts on teaching : seattle, wa

If you would have asked me when I was in high school what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would’ve said, “ANYTHING but a teacher.” I’m basically a I’ll-do-anything-except-what-everyone-else-is-doing kinda person, and I come from a family of teachers (ie: grandmother, mom, brother, sister, brother-in-law, aunts, cousins…whoa). So I’ll let you can put those pieces together.

Fast forward to now and imagine my surprise that I’m basically in L-O-V-E with mentor sessions: 2+ hours of one-on-one teaching. Like, so in love that it’s changing all my future goals and next-year-plans and causing me to rethink my entire business/creative process/EVERYTHING. It just feels like my entire resistance to teaching has brought me in a full circle to realizing that there’s a REASON it runs in my family. For me, it was just a matter of finding the right niche.

Finding creativity. Running a business. Booking clients I LOVE. How to build a noncompetitive creative community. That’s what gets me up in the morning, and that’s what I want to shout to the world.

I have found a GOOD thing, and I never want it to end. Contact me if this sounds like something you can get behind.

Also, say hi to Kate! She and I are two peas. We met up on a rainy day in Seattle and talked for way too long (oops) about business and shooting and elephants and why we love to travel. She’s a ray of sunshine with an infectious laugh who looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G even when it’s pouring down rain during her headshots. #lifegoals
